![]() ![]() “I love using it because of its ability to whip air into ice cream or tonics or even coconut milk - it gives the fluffiest mouthfeel that no other blender can replicate,” she says. Moon Juice founder Amanda Chantal Bacon also employs the Vitamix at her shops but has one at home, as well. When I was head of product at Daily Harvest, I used it every day for research and development,” says Jessica Young, former fine-dining chef and current founder and CEO of Bubble. “This blender is industry-standard and used across most professional kitchens. “It comes with a 64-ounce container, but a few months ago I got a 32-ounce one, too, to make things like curry paste and hummus without having to triple the volume.” Finally, it’s got a lower profile that can sit underneath most regular kitchen cabinets. Nisha Vora, creator of Rainbow Plant Life, points out that you can buy additional compatible parts, too. “If any piece of it gets run down or stops functioning properly, they take care of it,” Frenkiel says. Plus, as with all Vitamix blenders, it comes with a great warranty - something noted by Green Kitchen Stories co-founder David Frenkiel and recipe developer Sophia Roe. And unlike the One, it can easily handle tougher ingredients like nuts and grains (which means it’s also extra-efficient at crushing ice for smoothies). It comes with five pre-determined settings for smoothies, hot soups, frozen desserts, purées, and a self-cleaning option (more on that below). It’s expensive, yes, but according to everyone who owns one, well worth the investment. Despite the name, it is beloved by professionals and regular cooks alike. On the lowest end, there’s the Vitamix One for $250 - a no-frills-but-still-powerful option if you don’t need or want a bunch of settings, buttons, and attachments. That being said, if you don’t use a blender with a ton of regularity, can’t splurge on something so pricey, or are living in a small space that doesn’t accommodate big appliances, there are plenty of other options with ringing endorsements to back them up.Ĭapacity: 64 ounces | Function: Automatic | Size: 8.5” x 8.5” x 17.25” Many of the people I spoke with own various models - it is, hands down, the most lauded brand across the board, making the kinds of pieces that will last you an actual lifetime. But there are also a lot to choose from, and in an attempt to narrow down the wide and overwhelming field, I asked a bunch of pros and avid cooks about the ones they rely on in their own kitchens.įirst things first: Vitamix reigns supreme in the blender universe. They’re truly so useful, as much of a staple for many people as a stove or microwave. Blenders can purée vegetables into soup, crush nuts into butter, whir dressings and sauces into silky emulsifications, chop ingredients into salsas, and, of course, make smoothies. ![]()

![]() ![]() Given GTs is selling well over 1 million bottles a year - and thus making north of 125,000 gallons every single year - that means GTs is brewing over 25,000 INDIVIDUAL batches of kombucha per year! Extraordinary!Īnd also quite refreshing to see a big company sticking to its craft brewing roots. ![]() Unsurprisingly, given Dave’s passion for all things fermented, GTs kombucha is made with great care.įor starters, while most of the industry has moved to brewing kombucha in HUGE vats, often around the 50 gallon mark, GTs still brews their kombucha in SMALL 5 gallon jars. In this analysis when we’re comparing brands on things like flavoring agents used, sugar content etc, we’ll be referencing GTs Synergy Gingerade, which I have here. So in other words, we’re going to compare ginger with ginger. And after a bit of research we found that all major brands have 1 flavor in common with GTs, which is GINGER. Naturally, to make this comparison FAIR we need to make sure that we’re comparing apples with apples. Of course, to make this analysis even more useful for you, we’ll also look at how GTs compares to OTHER kombucha brands. Now it’s time for us to take the gloves off and shine a spotlight on what’s actually inside GTs kombucha, so we can answer 4 questions… Just before we start looking at whether GTs kombucha passes the Essential Stacks test, it is worth noting that GTs now offers a range of other fermented products such as water kefir, mushroom infused teas and even coconut yogurt. In fact it is LESS than light beer, which comes in around 4% alcohol. But in doing so, it can contain ABOVE 0.5% alcohol and as such is now sold as a 21-and-over drink.įinally, GTs offers Hard Kombucha products, which sit around 3% alcohol by volume - which is not bad. GTs second category of kombucha is called Classic Kombucha and actually utilizes GT Dave’s ORIGINAL recipe for kombucha. And this is what we’ll be focusing on in this article. This is their NON-ALCOHOL kombucha - meaning it is under 0.5% alcohol content and able to be enjoyed by everyone. ![]() So most interesting to us is their first category of kombucha called Synergy Raw Kombucha. And since it can be a bit CONFUSING working out what’s best for you, here’s a quick breakdown of the 3. GTs has expanded their kombucha product range over the years and now has 3 distinct categories. And in a world where MOST of the top selling kombucha brands are part or wholly owned by the big beverage players or private equity funds, the fact that GTs remains 100% family owned and independent is extraordinary.Īs you can imagine, this is a really important point and we’ll see what this means for the quality of their products, when we analyze them in a minute. Now, the other fascinating detail that got our attention here, is that Dave remains the sole owner. Meaning Dave literally single handedly built the kombucha market.Īnd to further put this time in context - GTs main competitors only got started in the last decade or so, with Humm in 2008, Kevita in 2009 and HealthAde in 2012, to name a few. So for starters, 1995…we’re talking about a time when commercial kombucha simply DID NOT EXIST in the USA. There’s a bit to unpack here and I think you’ll quickly see why so many people like GTs kombucha. And remarkably, 25 years on, Dave remains the sole owner of GTs. So GTs was founded by George Thomas Dave - or GT Dave as he’s most commonly known. Because this can usually tell us a lot about the potential quality of their products. Summary of our key findings on GT'sĪlthough we’ll dive into the nitty gritty of GTs specific products in a minute, I think the first thing you’ll find interesting is WHO is behind the company. So with that out of the way, let’s get into our findings. So before we get into it, I just want to say that like all product reviews here at Essential Stacks we receive zero compensation or incentive from the company we are reviewing, which means we are completely unbiased.Īnd as you’ll see in this review, we don’t hold anything back when analyzing companies in the digestive health space.Īnd that’s because our missing here at Essential Stacks is to help you discover what truly works and what doesn’t for good gut health. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now, clear this section first around the house where the player will encounter First-Generation Albinaurics. ![]() However, the ease of navigation and viewing content makes it a go-to PostgreSQL client. Postico is a great choice for its ease of navigation and simple design. The visual design is not quite as tidy as other clients. Like SQLPro for Postgres, Postico only supports PostgreSQL databases, making it less portable. Similarly, the buttons in the footer allow for seamless navigation between Content, Structure, and DDL (Data Definition Language). However, with Postico’s quick view into referenced tables, I rarely find this limiting. There is a free version that offers a solid set of features–with the exception of multiple tabs for database connections or tables. I recently started using Postico after a teammate recommended it, and I have found it simple and easy to use. You can try it out with a seven-day free trial before deciding to buy the Pro version.įor my purposes, the query-centric design was inconvenient, so this was not my client of choice. ![]() I CANNOT express how excited i am for the sims 4 werewolves pack The Sims 4 Werewolves comes after the underwhelming release of the previous game pack, The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories, which was criticised upon its launch for its technical issues and glitches during wedding ceremonies, which Lilsimsie described as “frustrating”. However, the pack has also been met with enthusiasm and excitement at the release of the highly anticipated werewolf feature, along with plenty of lore with Moonwood Mill’s “hidden history” and new Create-A-Sim and Build Mode items. Plumbella, along with other Simmers, has also pointed out the “uncanny valley” faces and aesthetic of the werewolves, comparing them to the film Cats (2019) and likening their appearance to furries. The pack has also been met with enthusiasm and excitement at the release of the highly anticipated werewolf feature Other supernatural states are also not yet available in The Sims 4, such as fairies and genies, that were featured in previous instalments. However, with controversies such as releasing a My Pet Stuff Pack in addition to the Cats and Dogs expansion, EA has earned a reputation of being profit-driven by releasing features in multiple packs rather than one bigger expansion pack, meaning Simmers have to spend more money. However, some Simmers have argued, like Plumbella, that has enabled EA to implement these life stages into the game with more attention to detail. Unlike supernatural expansion packs in previous instalments of the game such as The Sims 3 Supernatural, The Sims 4 has released life states such as vampires and witches in separate game packs. Werewolves will seemingly work in a similar way to the vampires in The Sims 4, in which your sim unlocks new abilities the more they use their powers and gain skill points. Players can also visit new lots such as Howling Point and Lake Lunvik, and explore underground tunnels. There appear to be plenty of different gameplay options, with Simmers able to choose whether to be an alpha or lone wolf, as well as which werewolf pack to join. The pack will be released on 16th June, including a new life state with its own abilities and characteristics and a new world, Moonwood Mill. ![]() Margaret and Kristopher had a whirlwind courtship the likes of which many Sims have experienced: flirting on the couch until 2am, a first kiss under a waning moon outside the library, and WooHooing in a bush across town. With the release of a brand new game pack, The Sims 4 Werewolves, Alice Bennett discusses the potential of this new addition.ĮA has recently released the trailer for the new The Sims 4 game pack, Werewolves, which has been met with both enthusiasm and scepticism. Though I mock my accidental YA novel setup, I rolled with it. Immortality is a high level werewolf skill in the tree, after all. Of course my young adult Sim werewolf was destined to be with the grey-in-his-beard alpha, who was an unknown number of years older than her. I tested the boundaries quickly, finding that she got tense flirting with anyone who isn't her fatemate. That one decision launched a drama worthy of a young adult paperback and now I have no idea how to stop it.Īs soon as Margaret flirted with Kristopher I was notified that she'd found her fated mate, the one werewolf she's meant to be with. ![]() Kristopher was so intent on spending time with Margaret, unbothered by her perpetually leaking sink, that I decided, what the hell, let her flirt with him. Kristopher thought so too, because he started inviting himself over to her house. The fanfic is writing itself and I am powerless to stop it. Margaret, vegetarian evangelist, babysitter, and lover of a good cable-knit, seemed like a perfect fit for the chill Collective. Kristopher quelled her rage meter and delivered a bit of explanation: the Moonwood Collective wolves are all about mastering their rage and living in harmony with humans, unlike their rivals the Wildfangs who take pride in their wolf strength and see the Collective's attitude as cowardly. ![]() ![]() ![]() Both brands have their loyal followers because both make top quality appliances. I was unable to find a reliable source with the exact size of the catalog for Apple or Spotify, but best I can tell, it appears to be around 45 million songs for Apple and over 35 million songs for Spotify. In most cases, there is no sound quality difference between CD and the FLAC based streaming services. With time and experience, Qobuz started working better with Sonos, so finger’s crossed, maybe the issue is resolved. Compared to Tidal, Qobuz had significant problems, often with the app failing to start the music, pausing, drop-outs, with poor overall quality and stability issues. I can say that its integration into Sonos was very poor initially, but improved over time. My original intent was to report back on this article after Qobuz integration happened, but given the extended 6 months of use, I was able to extensively test its integration into my Sonos system. I have a Yamaha receiver that I had hoped would be integrated with Qobuz, but Yamaha left it out in recent firmware update for my particular model. Qobuz released a beta copy of the software and smartphone app, but full integration into hardware seemed to trickle out. Why would you want or need High-Resolution sound at 24 bit or 192 kHz is another topic, and although I will delve into it briefly here, it is far too big of a topic (and far too unsettled) to go into with any depth in the scope of this article. FLAC is a bit-perfect lossless compression algorithm that is known to not deteriorate the sound in any way. This is where Qobuz comes in, offering a FLAC based streaming service that streams at up to 24-bit 192 kHz quality. Then news began to pour in that MQA might not be all it’s cracked up to be, possibly even being less than CD quality. For the most part, I simply didn’t hear a difference. However, like many, when I began listening to MQA encoded streams on Tidal, I didn’t walk away all that impressed. When Tidal began offering Master Quality Sound, which used MQA encoding, a supposedly lossless perceptual coding system which could provide High-Resolution sound in above CD quality, I thought of it as a bonus. So far I’ve been all too happy to spend $20 a month on Tidal to gain access to CD-quality sound. I was convinced from these comparisons that I could not live with these lossy services. The best way I could describe it is like taking the life out of the music. The overall presentation just sounded weaker. In my listening tests comparing Spotify, Amazon, and Tidal I found Spotify and Amazon to sound muted with the leading edge of dynamic transients and the bass sounding flat. Tidal, on the other hand, offers a lossless FLAC based streaming option. The major players in streaming audio (Apple, Spotify, and Amazon) use a lossy compression algorithm that deteriorates the sound of the streaming service. Tidal does allow you to download some of your favorite music and play it back via their app which is useful when you're on an airplane and have no wi-fi. However, I am not sure why I would want to buy downloads. I can understand the lure of downloading since I have scenarios where I often want to listen to high-resolution music and I don’t have a good internet signal. Unlike Tidal, Qobuz, allows you to buy the music as well. Both allow you to stream music or download a modest selection of songs to listen offline. Like Tidal, Qobuz offers multiple ways to access music. Tidal vs QoBuz High-Resolution Music Streaming YouTube DiscussionĪlthough both are considered audiophile streaming services, Qobuz does differentiate itself from Tidal in potentially important ways. ![]() |
